UNSW ASEAN Conference

Association of SouthEast Asian Nations Society first held its inaugural UNSW ASEAN Conference (UAC) in 2019 as a networking event to stimulate critical discussions across all stakeholders amidst unique rhythms of ASEAN culture and as a bridge between Southeast Asia and Australia. The target audience are ASEAN students, businesses and organisations in Australia. The logo was designed as a monogram for UAC, with professionalism and ‘fresh’ as part of the brief and concept.

I was hired as part of the founding team to create a visual brand identity for the event, separate from the society’s visual identity (which I also rebranded a year later to seamlessly merge the two). I was then offered the role of Head of Media and Marketing to ensure branding guidelines were adhered to over the year, and provide creative input as the head designer of the marketing team.

THE EVENT

I also designed the roller banners, main event slides and menus. The event was supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia-ASEAN Business Council, Australia Now and more. Distinguished guests and speakers were flown in from Southeast Asia as well as travelled from local areas and interstate.

UAC has since become an annual flagship event under the same visual identity, and in 2020 was hosted as an online event because of the pandemic, featuring speakers such as the 26th Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, and the 6th president of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
